Special Annual Meeting 2021 to Take Place in Singapore in May

– The World Economic Forum will convene the Special Annual Meeting 2021 in Singapore from 25-28 May.

It will return to Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, for the Annual Meeting 2022.

The Special Annual Meeting 2021 in Singapore will be the first global leadership event to address worldwide recovery from the pandemic. This in-person meeting will bring together leaders to focus on shaping solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. Further details will be announced in due course.

“A global leadership summit is of crucial importance to address how we can recover together,” said Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum. “The Special Annual Meeting 2021 will be a place for leaders from business, government and civil society to meet in person for the first time since the start of the global pandemic.

Public-private cooperation is needed more than ever to rebuild trust and address the fault lines that emerged in 2020.”

The change in location reflects the Forum’s priority of safeguarding the health and safety of participants and the host community. After careful consideration, and in light of the current situation with regards to COVID-19 cases, it was decided that Singapore was best placed to hold the meeting.

During the usual “Davos week”, which in 2021 runs from 25-29 January, the Forum will host a virtual event to rebuild trust and shape the principles, policies and partnerships needed for 2021. The Davos Agenda will feature participation from heads of state and government, chief executive officers, civil society leaders, global media and youth leaders from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and North America. Building a better future for work, accelerating stakeholder capitalism and harnessing the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution will be important topics on the agenda.

Ahead of the Special Annual Meeting 2021, the Forum will host the Global Technology Governance Summit in Tokyo from 6-7 April 2021. This will feature global stakeholders from government, business and civil society dedicated to ensuring the responsible design and deployment of emerging technologies through public-private collaboration.

Dubai conference to highlight UAE-Israel peace accord

The JerusalemPost and Khaleej Times, the two largest English-language media organisations in Israel and the UAE, respectively, have partnered to present the first in-person conference in 2021 in Dubai.

The partnership comes after the signing of the historic Abraham Accords between the UAE and Israel that ushered in a new vision for the Middle East.

The event in February will be preceded by a virtual confab on January 13, 2021.

The UAE-Israel Peace & Prosperity Roundtable will set the tone for the bilateral relations between the two countries. The half-day virtual confab will include renowned names from both sides spanning across government and business sectors discussing topics that form an integral part of the growth story of the UAE and Israel. Topics include healthcare technology, trade and investment, fintech collaboration and stability in the Middle East.

Hundreds are expected to attend the in-person conference, which will take place in February 2021 in Dubai.

It will be the first of its kind and bring together political figures and business and civic leaders to discuss the growing importance of both the UAE and Israel on a global scale. It will discuss the importance of the Abraham Accords that aims to bring long-lasting peace in the region.

Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence to launch 'A Message of Tolerance from the UAE to the World'

The UAE Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence will launch on Sunday a virtual forum entitled

"A Message of Tolerance from the UAE to the World".

The event that will be held in the presence of and under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, will see the participation of a wide range of religious leaders of various religions and a large number of writers, thinkers and officials.

Sheikh Nahyan will deliver the keynote speech of the forum in the presence of several researchers and academics specialising in the fields of tolerance, coexistence and peace from inside and outside the country.

The forum aims to deepen these values among various segments of society, and consolidate coexistence and tolerance among various religions.

The ministry emphasised that the forum will shed light on the UAE's unique experience regionally and globally that has achieved great success, witnessed by the world, until it became a role model for those who want to follow that path.

The forum will be moderated by Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim, Deputy Director, Board of Trustees of the Sultan bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Establishment.
